Charities supported for 2009/10
Goring and Streatley Concert Band members nominate different charities to support each year. We are supporting the following charities this year:
Sue Ryder Care Nettlebed - supports people with a wide range of neurological diseases and life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, carers and friends both in this country and abroad. The range of services include long-term and respite residential care, day care centres and home care.
The Thames Valley Air Ambulance - provides a life saving service seven days a week, 365 days a year, covering the three counties they serve, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
The Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA) - was formed in 1998 by a small group of parents of children with Batten Disease with the help of SeeAbility and Contact-a-Family. The BDFA is committed to:
Jessie's Fund - is a UK charity helping seriously ill and disabled children by using music for communication and for therapy. We work with children in hospices and in other settings nationwide, providing a wide range of musical instruments and giving the children access to music-making and to music therapy. Our Soundtracks programme takes us into schools for children with special needs, where our creative workshops and staff training allow children the opportunity to develop through music.
