Charities supported for 2008/09

Goring and Streatley Concert Band members nominate different charities to support each year. We are supporting the following charities this year:

Sue Ryder Care Nettlebed - supports people with a wide range of neurological diseases and life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, carers and friends both in this country and abroad. The range of services include long-term and respite residential care, day care centres and home care.

Leukaemia Research UK - is the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin's and other lymphomas, and myeloma. Its scientists and doctors work in over fifty top research centres across the UK, seeking to improve diagnosis of blood disorders and treatments for patients, and to find a cure for blood cancers. The charity supports patients, their families and friends.

Riding for the Disabled - is a federation of Member Groups which are dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through the provision of opportunities for riding and/or carriage driving. This enables people to improve their health and well-being, delivering a real and lasting therapy that not only benefits mobility and co-ordination, but encourages confidence and self worth whilst having fun. More than 25,000 adults and children benefit from this charity.
